Certified Shame-Informed Treatment Specialist

Who is Eligible

Nationally registered, credentialed or association member professionals, including:

  1. Counsellor
  2. Psychologist
  3. Social Worker
  4. Psychotherapist
  5. Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist
  6. Play Therapist
  7. Mental Health Nurse
  8. Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  9. Medical Doctor

Training Requirements

A minimum of 12 CPD hours of training in specific shame assessment and treatment topics. Click here for details.

Pre-approved, 3rd party trainings that meet the training requirements for Certification include:

  2. Trauma & Shame-Informed Dual Certification: Evidence-Based, Integrated Treatment Strategies for Enhanced Recovery by PESI UK - Certification Included!

Application Process

  1. Complete a qualifying training
  2. Remit your initial application fee payment of 149.99 USD online
  3. Upload the following documents to your account:
    1. A copy of the candidate’s professional registration, credential, or membership
    2. Evidence of completion of qualifying training, in the form of a CPD or completion certificate

Renewal

To maintain Certification, a reapplication is required. After your initial 1-year Certification, you have the option to renew for 1, 2 or 3 years. A 1-year renewal requires 6 CPD hours of shame-related training since you were last Certified; a 2-year renewal requires 12 CPD hours, and a 3-year renewal requires 18 CPD hours.

  3. Upload the following documents to your account:
    1. A copy of the candidate’s professional registration, credential, or membership
